This scene was taken from Angel Face (1952) which explains why 

it is a different car, going off the road backwards with a dark haired lady in the car. 

The last three sentences of the AFI's synopsis of Angel Face - " Diane finds Frank packing 

for Mexico and asks if she can go, too. Frank says no, but agrees to let her drive him to the bus 

station. After Frank gets in, Diane shifts into reverse, jams her foot on the gas pedal and sends 

the car over the cliff."
