Dr. Hugo Arranz is celebrating his 50th birthday with his wife and daughter, 

when vile hoodlums break in, rape and kill both wife and daughter and cut off 

his tongue in fairly graphic fashion. Fortunately he survives and unsurprisingly

 goes all vengence on their punk asses, after some training with knives, guns 

and weights. Director/star Paul Naschy (Jacinto Molina) proves a dab hand with 

the material, though showing his age his past as a weightlifter enables him to 

pull off some impressive lifting during the training sequence, and while he takes 

a comically short time to become a sharp shooting, knife throwing master, he wears 

a face of such grim determination that his character becomes believable. Its a fine 

performance in a stony sort of way, he does little more than occasionally nod his 

head or shift an eyebrow but is never dull, he radiates a cold, unfeeling menace, 

stark urge for vengeance that really fits the material. (IMDB) NV

  

Red Room (1999 Japan)

 The Red Room is another in a growing list of "extreme" gore films from sicko director, Daisuke Yamanouchi. His films are usually entertaining just to see what kind of nastiness that he'll portray in his film next.

Red Room is an interesting blend of psychological thriller and torture themed horror, revolving around a semi-underground game show. Through the use of character development, and some rather interesting plot twists, it rises above the typical "torture porn" entry to achieve a genuine sense of dread and tension.

If you thought Hostel was a sick, depraved movie, then you had better steer clear of this film. It makes anything available in mainstream cinema seem incredibly tame, particularly in its use of graphic sexual violence. (IMDB) V

This Island Earth (1955)

 Dr. Meacham is chosen along with others by the inhabitants of the planet 

Metaluna to do research that will help save their dying planet. However, 

an evil scheme is uncovered by the suspecting Dr. Meacham when he discovers 

the Metalunan's plan to take over Earth. Dr. Meacham then escapes an 

exploding Metalunan built Earth lab along with Dr. Adams only to be kidnapped 

while flying away in a small plane. A flying saucer wisks both the scientists 

off to Metaluna where they are held accountable for blowing up the Metalunan 

Earth lab during their escape. They later escape there with the help of Exeter 

the friendly Metalunan. Metaluna then self destructs and the Doctors make it 

safely back to Earth, which is saved from Metalunan invasion. (IMDB holland)
