Redacted (2007)

Fictionally recounting the rape and murder of a 14-year old Iraqi girl by U.S. soldiers in 2006.
Using hand-held camera surveillance footage, Internet videos, excerpts from a French documentary
and an Arab TV channel, Islamic fundamentalist websites, and the fictional camcorder diary of a
young U.S. private, Redacted lets us know not only about the atrocities of war but about the
unreliability of the way in which information is presented in the media and how we cannot trust
what we see, even in his film.

Three frat boys sneak into the Tri-Delt sorority to witness the
initiation of new pledges and are caught. The pledges must go to
the local bowling lane and steal a trophy, aided by the unwanted
frat boys. An accident causes the trophy to break, releasing an
evil imp who then begins wreaking havoc with the teens, who begin
suffering an attrition problem.

A young woman (Ariadna Welter) arrives at the isolated town of Negro Sierra
at the same time as a wooden crate full of Hungarian soil and a happy-go-lucky
salesman (co-producer Abel Salazar) after being summoned by her uncle to the
sickbed of one of her aunts. Hitching a ride with the strange man who arrives
to collect the crate, the pair arrive at her family's grand hacienda to find
it in a state of disrepair and her aunt already apparently dead and buried. The
woman's other aunt, however, seems unchanged since the girl's visit as a child

Frigga lives with her parents on their farm. Unable to speak after being
horrifically raped by an elderly man when she was young, her parents spend
the majority of their money on speech therapy classes for their daughter
in the hope that one day, she will speak again. One day, Frigga misses the
bus to get to her speech therapy class. She accepts a ride off a suave
looking gentlemen named Tony who pulls up beside her. Once they are in town,
he takes her for a meal. Afterwards, he takes Frigga back to what appears to
be his bachelor pad. He gives her wine that has probably been drugged, as
she passes out after drinking it. The man then takes no time in bringing a
crooked doctor in to get her fixed on high class heroin. After announcing
to Frigga that she is now dependent on heroin and cannot last more than 48
hours without it, she must work as a prostitute for him.

Swedish censorship banned the film in April 4, 1973.

The film (as "Thriller") was rejected for cinema by the BBFC in 1974.
