The Children (1980)
aka
The Children of Ravensback

"The Children (of Ravensbeck)" is the prime example to demonstrate why so many horror fans righteously worship the 80's decade! Unless you just finished drinking an entire bottle of the sourest vinegar, it's pretty much impossible NOT to watch this movie with a constant smile on your face. It has a decent (albeit unoriginal) storyline, a fair share of tension, effective comical moments and an enormous amount of deliciously cheesy make-up effects. There are several movies handling about evil children (even some genuine classics, like "The Bad Seed" and "Village of the Damned"), but this baby is easily one of the most entertaining and memorable films I've seen about the subject. The children of the usually quiet & peaceful town of Ravensback are singing songs on their way home when suddenly their school bus drives through a toxic yellow cloud, caused by a leakage in the nuclear power plant nearby. When Sheriff Billy finds the bus, it's entirely deserted and he sets out to alarm the parents. Our little rugrats eventually find their own way home, but they look um a little different. Their fingernails are pitch black and their loving embrace causes people to melt instantly! "The Children" features quite a high death toll! By the end of the film, there aren't many adults left in Ravensback and the kids' own fates aren't exactly cheerful either. (IMDB Coventry)
